AlertNow Rapid Communication Service

The District has worked diligently over the last two years to improve our parent communication utilizing the PowerSchool student database and GroupWise, the district email system. Mass email alerts have become standard in every building and it became apparent that we needed to move 'to the next level'.

In the summer of 2009, the District subscribed to AlertNow, an online rapid communication service.

AlertNow will help us communicate with parents more effectively and efficiently by delivering information almost instantaneously. AlertNow has the ability to deliver voice or text messages to telephones, mobile phones, pagers, PDAs or any other Internet-enabled device at a rate of up to 2,000,000 per hour.

A few of the AlertNow tools that we plan to utilize with parents are language translation and custom attendance messaging. These two features are just a sample of the tools that we will have available to us.

The District is currently working to get the system set up and begin training with the school administrators. More information will be sent out as it becomes available and a launch date will be sent out in advance.

AlertNow allows school administrators to keep parents updated quickly and efficiently with personalized messages and helps you, as a parent, stay actively involved in your child's education. AlertNow has the ability to:

• send notifications even when school phone lines are down
• rapidly deliver information for emergency and non-emergency situations
• perform polls and surveys
• quell rumors before they get out of hand
• send reminders on field trip forms, PTA meetings, etc
