Welcome to the Bee Hive!

Mrs. Casby Room 13 Another year has begun and I am so excited to be your first grade teacher!

During the first few weeks of school, we will be getting acquainted with each other, our team time buddies in the other 2 first grades and the routines of each day. Please be advised: Attendance and Absences Daily attendance at school is critical to a child's success in school. Student's are expected to be in the classroom and in their seats when school begins. We do not count a student tardy if she or he rides the bus and the bus arrives late. I do ask that students be kept home if they are sick. They cannot do their best work at school if they do not feel well. If your child is going to be absent from school, you should call the school office before or soon after school begins.

Our Special Area Schedule Monday - Music Tuesday - Art Wednesday - Library/Lab and Music Thursday - Gym Friday - Gym Please remember to send gym shoes with your child on our gym days. He/she will not be able to participate without appropriate shoes. If you would like, gym shoes can be stored at the bottom of your child's locker.

Snack Our lunch is at 12:35 so the children are hungry and ready for a snack at recess time each morning. Please send a healthy snack for your child each day. Please DO NOT send any snacks with peanuts, other nuts, peanut butter or anything that was made in a peanut factory such as Hershey's products.

Lunch We will be learning the routine for signing up for hot lunch each morning. There are 3 choices each day and a new menu is sent home with your child at the end of each month for the next month. If your child is coming late to school, she/he will need to bring a cold lunch that day or you may call your childs choice in to the office BEFORE 9:00am.

Birthdays This celebration is very important for young children! We will sing and celebrate each child's birthday throughout the year at our snack time (10:30-10:45) You are welcome to send a birthday treat in for your child to share with the class (NUT FREE). We currently have 21 students in our homeroom. For summer birthdays, you may pick any date (1/2 birthday or near the end of the school year) and just let me know what day you want us to celebrate!

Where Does Your Child Go After School? If previous pick-up arrangements change throughout the school year, please inform me (and your child) ahead of time either through email or a note sent into school. This information allows me to help your child get to the right place after school and avoid any possible anxiety of not knowing where to go. First graders often get confused on where to go what day!
